Frequently Axed Questions

See what we did there?

Do I need experience to throw axes?

Nope! Whether you're a total newbie or have done it before, we've got your back. One of our axe coaches will show you the basics to get you hitting bullseyes in no time!

How long is a session?

We offer 60 min, 90 min, and 120 min sessions. So whether you're squeezing in a quick throw or going for the full axe-throwing experience, we’ve got you covered!

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yep! All axe throwers need to sign a waiver. No worries, it’s digital and quick! Just show up 10-15 minutes early to sign it and go through a quick safety/training sesh and you’ll be throwing right away.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes, we ask for a 20% deposit for our group packages and the cost of one person plus tax for smaller bookings.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Life happens! Here’s the breakdown:

  • 48 hours+ notice: Full deposit refund!

  • Less than 48 hours: No refund (sorry, we’ve got axes to book!). Exception for extreme weather or terrible life events. We're human, too.

Do I need a reservation?

Walk-ins are welcome, but to guarantee a spot (and avoid disappointment), we recommend booking ahead! For groups of 6 or more, definitely book online or give us a call.

How do I make a reservation?

Easy! You can book online, email us at hello.theslice@gmail.com, give us a ring at (306) 842-0410 during open hours, or just swing by to set it up in person.

How much does it cost?

Check out our pricing page [here] for all the details. We have the most affordable axe throwing experience in SK!

What forms of payment do you accept?

We take cash, debit, Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard and most other credit card options. No need to carry an axe-load of cash!

Can kids throw axes?

Absolutely! With parental consent, we think kids should learn the art of axe throwing!

  • Under 18? We need a signed waiver from a parent or guardian.

  • Under 16? You’ll need your parent/guardian there to supervise.

What’s the minimum age for axe throwing?

There’s no minimum age—most 10-year-olds can get in on the fun, but we'll make sure they’re strong enough to throw safely before they step up to the target.

How safe is axe throwing?

Very! We’ve designed everything with your safety in mind. Our staff will show you the ropes, and we’ll be nearby & accessible every step of the way to make sure you’re throwing like a pro. Axe throwing is generally safe—especially under our watch!

Can I just watch my friends throw?

Absolutely! Watching is free. Make some noise for your crew! We charge $10 + tax general admission if you'd like to enjoy our games floor featuring darts, pool, and more.

Can I bring my own axe or knife?

As long as the throwing tool follows all Canadian laws, yes.
Throwing knives cannot exceed 8" in total length.

At The Slice, throwing axes must be legitimate throwing axes at 16" or shorter and weigh 3.2 lbs or less.

What should I wear?

Our only rule is to wear closed-toe shoes—no sandals or high heels!

Do you serve food or drinks?

We’ve got a snack bar stocked with goodies and cold non-alcoholic drinks to keep you fueled for throwing!

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Feel free to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks. Perfect for your party or event!

Do you serve alcohol?

We don’t serve alcohol here, but many of our axe-throwers like to come by after a meal or a few drinks elsewhere. Just be smart—if you’ve had a bit too much to drink, we’ll ask you to sit out for safety reasons. Private facility rentals are welcome to obtain their own special occasion permit from SLGA. You must notify us of this ahead of time as there are preparations we need to do on our end before your event.

Do you cater for events?

While we don’t cater ourselves, you're welcome to arrange your own caterer for your event. Let’s chat about the details and make your event a success!

What kind of axes do you have?

We’ve got everything from beginner-friendly 16oz fun, "ninja-style" throwing hatchets to 40oz tournament-style throwing hatchets, as well as 8" throwing knives and 14" throwing spikes. We occasionally offer other unique options if available.

Do we get our own lane/target for our group?

We have a max of 6 people per lane/target (groups of more than 6 get split up; for example - a group of 8 will see 4 people on two lanes).

Are you insured?

You bet! We’re fully insured to keep everyone safe while you’re throwing axes. Your safety is our priority!

Is there parking?

You can park for free for two hours on Souris Ave, or use the lot north of Canada Post on 1st Street. Parking is allowed behind our building outside of our friend's (Bank & Dentist) operating hours (basically, evenings and weekends only). See our parking map [here].
